So about that whole “wanting a story” thing

I mean, I always knew it was definitely gone in this direction, but I’d never seen any actual statistical proof of just how it really is these days.

But it’s pretty much confirmed that when it comes to the dating and relationships game, pretty much the vast majority of the world has given up on chance, and have turned to the internet.  Except for the few people like me, that is.  But really, I knew that I was kind of in a low-populated boat to begin with, but it’s pretty amazing to see just how many people have turned to the internet throughout the years.

As I’ve said before, I don’t have a problem with people meeting other people over the internet, but it’s just something that I don’t want for myself.  I don’t want to be able to stalk and learn about someone I’m interested in over a wall of text and an online questionnaire, and some cherry picked JPEGs of them looking their best.  Relationships are all about seeing the good and the bad, and overcoming all sorts of obstacles small and large, suffering occasional adversities, and enjoying victories little ones, and big ones, together.

Riot Graves Gun construction: Intro

I haven’t yet finished the LeBlanc staff, but it’s because I’m at a stage in the build that requires some help outside of my realm. That being said, time waits for nobody, so in the mean time, it’s time to start on my other project prior to Dragon*Con this year. And this one, is actually for me, since I’m going to dress up as (an Asian) Graves again this year, but this time bust out a Riot Graves skin.

But in order to be Riot Graves, that means I would most certainly need to make the Riot Graves gun. The good news for me is that compared to the Mafia Graves’ Thompson-style gun, Riot Graves’ gun is theoretically easier to construct. Not to mention the fact that it’s almost exclusively all one color, it should eliminate a lot of complexities of trying to mimic wood grain, and add gold accents here and there.

Never happier to see a family get torn apart

I’ve developed this sensitivity towards the subject of squatters, mostly because I’m pretty sure that there are a number of scumbags in my own neighborhood that are living here by means of squatting, and they do nothing but further bring down my land value, and make it feel more and more impossible that I’ll ever see the light of day of ever recouping any money from my property.

Furthermore, it’s just such a terrible, detestable thing to do; it’s theft, lack of consideration for those who work which I guess also constitutes as theft in its own right, and a complete lack of respect which encompasses all of the below. And the crooked legal system we live in that protects squatters so fervently makes me wonder of just who’s side of the fence that it’s working for.

Thoughts about Great White Flights

When I was sitting at a table waiting for my breakfast in Jacksonville, I was looking through some visitor guides, and the local weekly rags.  As nerdy as it sounds, this is something that I don’t mind doing, because it kind of gives me a little feel of what kind of community I’m in, and occasional good ideas of things I could do, especially in areas where I have no idea of what to do.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that anything that looked remotely appealing to me, whether it was a show, an event, or a restaurant, always had the same conclusion: go to some place not in Jacksonville.

Whether it was one of the numerous beaches that are due east of the city of Jacksonville, or frequently otherwise St. Augustine which is supposedly 45 minutes south of Jacksonville, just about anything that seemed hip or interesting was outside of Jacksonville itself.

Oh, Atlanta #2

Long story short: students go to a weekend education getaway to learn about outdoor ecology, and are instead given a surprise simulation lesson about the Underground Railroad that’s a little too real, complete with white people dressed up as stereotypical redneck slave owners, complete with overalls and whips.

Seriously, I couldn’t make this shit up if I tried. This story is absolutely wrong in just about every conceivable way, but damn I’m an evil, evil person that thinks it’s hilarious. Come on now, a white guy in nothing but overalls carrying a whip? Did he have tobacco juice running down his lips into his spittoon as well?

Is there any worse loser than Serena Williams?

Occasionally, I like to watch tennis.  I think it’s an often underrated sport because it’s not as popular as football or basketball, but on any given day, I’ll easily argue that it’s the most physically demanding sport on the planet.  Watching tennis while I’m running on the treadmill sometimes makes me feel like running in place is nothing, in comparison to what these guys are doing, running back and forth and swinging a racket while trying to place the ball in precise spots at speeds of over 100 mph.  So whenever there’s a televised Grand Slam event going on, I always find it convenient when it happens to be airing while I’m at the gym.

Today, while Andy Murray was having a match with some guy from Russia, I noticed on the ticker that Serena Williams had been defeated.  That in itself is always newsworthy, because Serena Williams is pretty much the best female tennis player in the game right now, and she doesn’t lose often.  Apparently, she had won like 34 matches in a row prior to this defeat, so it’s safe to say that this was most certainly a monumental upset.  But then something appeared at the corner of the screen, saying SERENA WILLIAMS PRESS CONFERENCE AT 11AM.  I looked at the clock and it was 10:56am.  I’m thinking, “what about this match I’m watching now?”  And the answer came at 11am, when the match stopped airing, and I was suddenly subject to seeing a distraught looking Serena Williams sitting at a press meeting.

It was at this moment, I turned off the television.
