Photos: The Color Run

The Color Run was pretty much everything I had expected it to be – non-competitive, more relaxing and recreational, fun, and messy as all hell.  It took place at Atlanta Motor Speedway, which to anyone who isn’t aware, is actually practically 50 miles south of the actual city.  But the 3.1 mile 5K course essentially was a gigantic circle around the parking lot of the track, with portals of people throwing and squirting colored, corn-starch based powder everywhere, which at the end made most people this grayish-greenish zombie color.

Regardless, it was a lot of fun, the weather couldn’t have possibly been any better on this particular day, and the fact that there was actual good company to spend it with made it all the best.  Even if we were all filthy and were blowing odd colored stuff from our noses for the rest of the weekend.

Oh yeah, it should be worth noting that I kept my camera out pretty much the whole time, uncovered.  As a result, it was obliterated with powder, and the resulting pictures have a lot of them hazy, dust-covered, or pretty grainy.  I did what I could, but only so much can overcome actual lens interference.

Photos: Kat-Con

Ahh, a good old house party, we haven’t had one of those in quite some time.  In honor of our lovely friend Kat’s birthday, a small convention-themed party was on the docket, where people gathered, people drank, and eventually people did pull-ups.

All in all, despite the fact that particular conversation topics kind of make me feel old (again), it was a pleasant time where the time flew as well as the suds did, and it was nice to be a part of the gathering.

I took a handful of pictures because I was feeling one of those “man, I should take more pictures” moments, so as always, they’re beyond the jump.

Photos: Allison’s Rockin’ 60’s Murder Mystery

In honor of Allison’s birthday, instead of an ordinary shindig, it was an evening of 1960’s retro and MURDER.  A whole bunch of us partook in a groovy 60’s themed Murder Mystery Dinner Party, revolving around the far out murderous occurrences that happened on the night of the party for Nutmeg Vant’s safe return from being shipwrecked for several months.

In other words, a great big elaborate dorky LARP, but it was a ton of fun, and it was quite enjoyable seeing everyone get involved and put forth such great efforts into getting into their characters, and acting out our parts as best as we could.

Much to the chagrin of some, taking pictures during the evening would have been odd and out-of-character from being the greatest baseball player that ever lived, so all the goofy pictures had to wait until afterwards.

Photos: Celebrating good things

So, on Moloch Day, a bunch of us decided to go out and celebrate good things.  No, of course we weren’t celebrating Moloch Day other than the fact that it got a bunch of a us a day off of work.  It just so happened that Moloch Day was also Miss Allison’s birthday and it turns out that both Jen and I had some reason to celebrate that I’m not really at liberty to talk about, but whatever, we gathered at The Melting Pot and scared off random strangers with abrasive conversation, as well as fondue’d it up for a pleasant evening.

I will be the first to admit the disappointing quality of the pictures in this gallery.  This was more or less the first time that I brought out my new point-and-shoot, and I will also be the first to admit that I hadn’t really used it prior to this night, so it was completely oblivious to me that when in low-light mode, this camera for whatever reason is locked into a lower quality.  The result is a lot of photos with compromised quality, and a lesson learned to really avoid using the low-light setting well, ever again.

Leave it to me to screw up what is supposed to be the simplicity of the point-and-shoot, but it too clearly needs a little bit of understanding to get the best out of.  Regardless, photos:

Photos: HALLOWEEN TIME

For a Halloween party this year, my friends and I decided to bust out some ADVENTURE TIME costumes.  In this case, I am in the perfect costume, being a giant obnoxious-sized BMO, because I’m almost completely physically hidden, and I’m a walking hiding place.

Inside my BMO box, I can make whatever faces I want, collect my thoughts, and more or less hide from the rest of the world if I don’t feel like dealing with it.  But at the same time, I can hardly see shit, I bump into pretty much everything, and my arms eventually get tired from being re-re length, sticking out of two arm holes.  Plus, it totally inhibited how much I actually drank that night, because drinking was a far larger chore than it ever really should be.

No matter, the company was awesome, although I have to say the party was a little lackluster.  Being on a Friday night, where lots of people worked all through the day prior, getting into costumes and going out in public apparently wasn’t on a whole lot of peoples’ agendas on this night.

Pardon the crappy quality of these pictures.  These were all taken on my old shitty Sony CyberShot that’s pretty much dead.  Another disadvantage to being in BMO is the fact that I can’t exactly have my good camera with me for photos, let alone the physical ability to really take pictures.  By no fault of the good graces of those who took these photos is the quality compromised; the camera itself is dated, and dying.  Overexposure, blur and redeye for all!

Photos: The July 4th Party

USA FUCK YEAH! indeed.

This year, we had more people come than ever before and Jen and I also bought more fireworks than ever before, for our annual July 4th party that happened on the 7th due to the fucked up nature of July 4th being on a got-damn Wednesday.

Despite the sweltering heat initially, the evening cooled substantially once the sun set out of view, and there was tons of food to match the number of people who came down to Zombieland to eat, drink and watch some fireworks.  And to those who all came, I can’t speak for Jen, but I’m ever grateful that you made the lengthy trip down to our sticks for this party.  It means a lot to me.

Photos: Las Vegas trip, Allison’s birthday

A whole bunch of firsts here – first picture drop of the 2012 year, first batch of images taken with my DSLR, and first photo post with this gallery format.  Which is all in relation to the first trip out to Las Vegas in quite some time for me, the occasion being a friend’s birthday party.  No better excuse to hit up Vegas.

I often say that the mark of a good Vegas trip is going home with the feeling that you missed out on doing some things.  I ate like a pig (surprise), got to do some gambling, and saw a couple of shows, as well as enjoying the company of our large-ish group out there.  But I didn’t get to indulge in Erris Irand ribs, I didn’t play craps, and I didn’t go up the Eiffel Tower, so I can say that I left with some of those feelings of missing out.  But that’s a good thing, because unlike the last few times prior to my burnout, I have something to look forward to the next time I go out there.
