Photos: Korea Trip 2016, batch 2

[2020 note] These are unposted photos from 2016, the second of four galleries of my first-ever trip to the Motherland, that I took with my mother.

After several days in Seoul, my mother and I embarked within the country on a tour that she had arranged, where we would take a whirlwind throughout the rest of the country, starting with the “Hawaii of Korea,” Jeju Island… where we were promptly greeted with a seasonal typhoon that blew through the entire island and into the rest of the Motherland.

But afterward, the weather was nothing short of beautiful, and the rest of our time on Jeju was filled with gorgeous sights and naturally, more night shopping.

[2020 note] These are unposted photos from 2016, the first of four galleries of my first-ever trip to the Motherland, that I took with my mother.

As soon as we landed, we had guidance from some of my mom’s friends from over 38 years ago that they’d been keeping in touch over the internet, and they were lovely people who helped us settle in upon arrival.

Pretty quickly, I learned that Seoul is very much a city actively primarily at night, and it was a wonderful time soaking in and absorbing the culture of my parents, and it was tremendous fun wandering around taking in all the sights and indulging in all sorts of Korean food all over the place.

One of the most satisfying feelings however, was when I decided to branch off and go off on my own, and realized very quickly that even in spite of my elementary proficiency in Korean, I was more than capable of holding my own in Korea, and the apprehension of being on my own in Seoul vanished really fast.

Photos: Europe Trip 2016, batch 3

[2020 note] Lost content, never posted on account of brog downtime.

This is the last batch of photos from mythical then-gf and I’s European vacation in 2016.  After we got off the cruise, we decided to spend a few extra days in Italy, where we visited Florence and Rome, taking in the sights, museums and eating all of the pasta while we were there.

Plus I caught a Mr. Mime in Pokémon GO, which at the time was a rarity for an American to have a European exclusive, which made the entire trip completely worth it.

[2020 note] Lost content, never posted on account of brog downtime.  Moar photos from mythical then-gf and I’s Europe vacation in 2016.

Photos encapsulate our port excursions to Santorini, Greece, the land transportation forgot, which started out great, but ended horribly down the donkey trail.  And then there was Olympia, Greece, the home of the OG Olympics, which was much nicer to not have to go down a donkey trail.

[2020 note] Lost content, never posted in 2016 on account of brog downtime.  Photos of then-mythical gf and I on vacation in Europe, starting with layovers in New York and a visit to Ippudo, another one in Paris, where British Airways lost track of our luggage, and our arrival in Italy, where we spent a single night in Milan, before heading to Venice where we would take port on the start of our cruise.

Gallery encompasses our stops in King’s Landing Dubrovnik, Croatia and Kusadasi, Turkey, which was ironically my first ever foot stepped in the continent of Asia, despite my wanting Korea to have that distinction.

Photos: Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio

[2020 note]: the following is a photo dump that was never accounted for, from my baseball park trip to Cleveland, Ohio, to visit Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Indians in 2016.

This was a ballpark that had long eluded me, due to the fact that it was in Cleveland, and there were never many ideal flight options when I had my flight privileges, and after I lost them, it seemed like it might never happen.  But seeing as how my dad had gotten a new car, it seemed like a good idea to have some father-son bonding time, and we made a road trip to Ohio from Virginia, and got to knock this ballpark off my bloody list.

Photos: A tiny Vegas trip

Literally, two weeks ago, a close friend of mine messaged me out of the blue to tell me that she was getting married in Vegas.  Initially, she assumed I was already going to be in Vegas because of Otakon Ve(r)gas, but pffh I don’t don’t really go to conventions anymore, much less the ones run by friends.  I had no intention of going out to Vegas for OV, but to be there for a good friend’s wedding?

Not to mention an Elvis wedding?  Totally worth it.

Thankfully, I was able to find some reasonable travel and lodging accommodations, and was able to make it out to Vegas this past weekend, in spite of the last-minute nature.  The wedding itself was everything I thought it would be; short, succinct and to no real surprise, the Elvis impersonator himself was really mediocre.  He didn’t do the voice, barely any mannerisms, and nary was there more than like two lip curls.
